Welcome!

It should come as no surprise that the Portland restaurant scene, with its interest in fresh, innovative cuisine and local and sustainable agriculture, offers some of the most delicious and varied animal-free dining options in the country. A National Restaurant Association poll shows that Portlanders aren't the only ones catching on: one in five diners looks for vegetarian meals when eating out.

If you're in the mood for Lebanese food, look no further than Nicholas Restaurant!

The Vegan Mezza Platter is the most popular meal ordered and also a great deal for only $10. It comes with all of your favorite items: falafel, hummus, tabouli, tahini, mjadra (lentils and rice), a garbanzo plate and large servings of freshly baked pita bread (suggestion: substitute the garbanzo plate for a more flavorful spinach pie!). There are also tons of other vegan items on the menu—just look for the "V": baba ganoug, veggie grape leaves, lentil soup, falafel sandwich, Lebanese salad, deep fried eggplant, veggie kabobs, manakish, baklava… we could go on.

So if your stomach is suddenly craving Nicholas, here are a couple things to keep in mind as you rush out the door: they take cash or check only, and if you go in the evening there is often a small wait for seating since they stay pretty busy most nights. Now go hop on your bike or jump in your car, and as always, don't forget to tell them that VegPortland.com sent you!
