Welcome!

It should come as no surprise that the Portland restaurant scene, with its interest in fresh, innovative cuisine and local and sustainable agriculture, offers some of the most delicious and varied animal-free dining options in the country. In 2008, VegNews took notice, naming Portland as the Editors' Pick for "Veg City Taking Over the World!" And a National Restaurant Association poll shows that Portlanders aren't the only ones catching on: one in five diners looks for vegetarian meals when eating out.

If you live in Portland or are just visiting, browse through this website and let your mouth water. We hope you’ll find VegPortland.com useful and your dining experiences delightful. It’s never been easier to savor vegan cuisine in the City of Roses!

March's Feature of the Month

Sweetpea Baking Company
1205 SE Stark St.
Portland, OR 97214
(503) 477-5916

Like many small business, Sweetpea Baking Company, started out as a hobby, and quickly grew into a wholesaler, providing sweet vegan treats to many local businesses. Soon, the vegan goods were such high demand, a retail location opened up in 2008. Now, Sweetpea has taken vegan indulgences one step further: in addition to serving up the sweets, it’s now dishing out delicious sandwiches! All vegan of course.

Cleverly named after some of the regulars of the Vegan Mini-Mall, these sandwiches are made fresh on baked, homemade bread. In honor of some of our favorite peeps, we’re giving a shout out The Ruby Bird’s Nest (unchicken, tofu, or untuna with veggies) and The Schwegman (a double-decker grilled cheese)!

Each sandwich comes with kettle chips and a pickle spear. You can also add a delicious cup of soup for just $3. And don’t forget Saturday is doughnut day and Sundays is for brunch. Of course, you can still feast on your favorite vegan treats like cheesecakes, cupcakes, scones, and more. So stop by Sweetpea Baking Company today—just remember to tell them that VegPortland.com sent you!
